How do you Identify the Best Affiliate Products to Market?
To succeed in affiliate marketing it is essential that you pick the right products and target the right market in your campaign. How do you pick a product? You should examine a product in the light of these following areas:
Interest
Is this a product or service you are interested in. What do you think about it? Would you buy it? Do you think it is useful? Are you excited about it? Can you think of where it would be useful or indispensable? If you are excited about it, then there s a great possibility that others in your sphere will have an interest.
Is the product related to your website?
The products you choose should be related to your website in a way. e.g. if your website is about mobile phones there is no point promoting motorcycles - your visitors were driven to your site by their interest in mobile phones so if you have links or banners for mobile phone related items such as Bluetooth headsets, you are much more likely to get a positive reaction in your affiliate campaign.
Profit / Commission Levels
Choose products that will give you a high commission rate.
Multi-Tier products
Look at affiliate products and services that are multi-tier so that if your web conversions sign up others to purchase the product you get a percentage commission.
Residual Services
Look for affiliate services that offer a residual sale e.g. subscription services where you get a percentage of the monthly fees for as long as the purchaser stays signed up to the service.
Marketing Services and Affiliate Product Trends
How does this product fit the market trends? Is the tendency in future moving towards this kind of product e.g. Blueray Discs rather than conventional DVD’s
Gravity
How many affiliates are selling this product is their number increasing or decreasing, How many sales are being made, is it high and is it increasing or dropping. What is the trend is the product becoming more popular or losing its popularity. You should pick products with higher gravity but not not in too high a demand by other affiliate marketers.
Is it a really good product?
Is the product proven and reliable? Does it actually work? What do other reviewers say? What do people who have bought it say? Would you buy it? Who are their clients. Who endorses it as an excellent solution. If top notch companies are their clients then it is likely that their products are good.
Presentation
Visit the sales page. How well is the product presented? Does the merchants website look well designed and professional? Is the sales talk accurate and convincing? Would you make a purchase based on the look, data and presentation?
Competition
How high is the competition. You don’t want to have to compete with too many other vendors or affiliates or your marketing campaign e.g. Adsense adverts could end up costing so much your campaign becomes unprofitable.
Does the vendor or network provide useful Feedback and Statistics?
You will need to be able to track the effect of your campaign so that you can fine tune your website content and ensure that visitor actually end up taking action whether it is clicking on links, visiting your merchants sites or making a purchase from them.
Promotional Tools
Good and professional vendors will provide you with promotional tools, banners, resources and articles you can place on your website and adapt to help you promote the product?
Watch out for Terms and Conditions.
Some merchants have terms and conditions that are not favourable to you e.g. some will demand that you provide a high number of visitors each month. Others may impose a high number of sales that must be made before you make any commission. Before you get started ensure that you can meet their criteria. The last thing you want to do is end up working for no profit.
